dc.description.abstract-translatedThe article discusses the attitude of selected small and medium-sized enterprises towards Business Intelligence Systems. Business Intelligence System can draw data from a variety of internal and external sources (mostly from enterprise information systems) and automatically obtain and analyse data about specific facts and provide information to help with decision making of management on specific issues. The goal of the article is to provide an overview of the opinions and acquaintance of Business Intelligence Systems among selected group of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Czech Republic (mainly from primary and secondary sector), to find out the barriers to its implementation and vice versa the level of Business Intelligence utilization by those who have already implemented it. The article briefly introduces Business Intelligence concept and its potential to improve performance and management of an enterprise. Then a questionnaire survey is presented as well as its methodology and also the results. The results revealed that the Business Intelligence Systems are not too widespread or familiar among the selected group of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. The research also shows a rather negative attitude towards its implementation. Businesses are used to their way of processing information and do not see significant benefits in Business Intelligence implementation. In addition, they do not have enough money to carry out this implementation. On the other hand, those businesses that have already implemented Business Intelligence are satisfied. It is clear, therefore, that most Small and Medium-Sized enterprises will not be interested in implementing Business Intelligence themselves and will not benefit from it, which for those who does means a potential competitive advantage.en
