dc.description.abstract-translatedAlthough literature concerning the unification of Polish lands in the 13th and 14th centuries is extensive, the rule of Wenceslaus II Přemyslid in Poland has not yet undergone thorough scientific study. The assessment of Czech leadership is also ambiguous, as the majority of scientists consider this period to be a military occupation. This opinion dominates in older literature. Currently, due to new research, more scholars have begun to view Wenceslaus’ rule more positively. One beneficial aspect of this was the construction of defensive fortifications. Many of these fortifications have been documented in literary sources and by archeological excavations. At present it is believed that Wenceslaus II built castles in Krakow, Czorsztyn, Poznań, Koło, Chęciny, Biecz and Rytro. The concept of the paper is to present the research on Přemyslid defensive constructions in Polish areas in the 13 th and 14 th centuries.en
