Abstract in different language: The relevance of the topic is determined by the objective significance of the book and reading in the formation of an independently and creatively thinking personality with a high spiritual culture. Despite the fact that art works have a powerful educational and educa-tional potential, their reading becomes a real problem for mankind and for teachers of litera-ture in particular. The article considers non-traditional methods of forming the culture of read-ing, which were conducted within the framework of the project "High School – School", timed to the 190th anniversary of the birth of L. N. Tolstoy.
