Abstract in different language: Since 1990, the public administration of the Slovak Republic has gone through important changes in its state administration, local state administration, as well as self- -administration, both on the local and regional level. This, naturally, required stabilisation, which aimed to increase the quality and efficiency of the public administration’s activities as well as public services provided to the country’s citizens. Thorough mapping out the issue of public administration is a rather difficult task. It is, therefore, necessary to identify and draw from already existing empirical knowledge and scientific research. Public administration is a new issue in the Slovak Republic. However, it has already been the object of study for a whole range of social and economic sciences. Therefore, findings from an analysis of public administration are clearly of an interdisciplinary and multidimensional character.
