Abstract in different language:	Based on richly preserved correspondence, the paper maps the life of the lord offi cer Frederick Sovinský of Mohelnice, an eyewitness to the events of the Thirty Years‘ War. The paper also presents the possibilities of utilizing the information potential of patrimonial provenance papers on the issue of the broad history of war in the early modern period.
