| cs |

dc.description.abstract-translated | The main aim of the thesis is an introduction of the current phenomenon, time pressure paradox, based on ideas of four different scientists, following comparison of these ideas and determination of the possible causes of this paradox. The first part includes the description of the very first ideas and reflections of this paradox by Thomas Eriksen and the description of two contemporary major theories of social acceleration developed by Hartmut Rosa and Judy Wajcman. Both of these theories describe the "time-pressure paradox", i.e. the fact that new technologies actually put us under more time pressure, rather than creating space for more free time which is the original purpose behind their development. Following the Rosa's theory there is an analysis of changes in interpersonal communication due to the social acceleration by Sherry Turkle. The second part includes the comparison of all of the main ideas of the authors. At first there is a comparison of the two major theories by Rosa and Wajcman. At the end there is a summarizing comparison of some of the main ideas by the four authors. It is discussed whether there are any mutual similarities, contradictions or continuities between the different opinions, and the possible causes of the paradox are outlined afterwards. | en |
