| cs |

dc.description.abstract-translated | This work briefly outlines the political system in Elizabethan times and the government of Henry VIII. and his children (Mary I., Edward VI., Elizabeth I.). The development of poetry, sonnets, or drama is pointed out, for their work the playwrights drew inspiration from French and Italian short stories, or ancient mythology. One of the playwrights was William Shakespeare, in whose selected tragedies the motif of death is analyzed in more detail. Motives for murder, desires for revenge, or thoughts of one's own death in the tragedies of Titus Andronicus, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Measure for Measure, King Lear, Macbeth and in a more general context are compared with the works of Elizabethan playwrights. Then their interconnection with the philosophical attitudes of contemporary thinkers Michel de Montaign, Francis Bacon, or Phillip de Mornay is elaborated. | en |
