Abstract: To evaluate print characteristics on the basis of scanned microsamples of printing sheets, it is necessary to carry out the segmentation of particular colour regions, printed with process inks. The accuracy of the evaluation of print characteristics strongly depends on the successful segmentation of the colour regions involved in a print sample. This paper describes the colour region segmentation based on the combination of thresholding and edge detection methods.
