Abstract in different language: This book attempts to open the debate on the controversial topic of conspiracy theories and their uses and abuses in public and political discourse. The book is divided into several chronologically ordered chapters, each written by a different author. The Brst chapter by Prof. Ivo Budil explores the role of conspiracy theories in the 19th century on the examples of three important personalities Alphonse Toussenel, Karel Marx and Richard Wagner. Some of the patterns of conspiracy hoaxes, identiBed by Budil in this chapter can be then met in the following chapters, all of which deal with the role of conspiracy theories in the Czech antisemitic thought. Blanka Soukupová offers a brief overview of the antisemitic conspiracy theories throughout the various phases of Czech(oslovak) history. Soukupová starts her explanation before the birth of Czechoslovakia, continues to the period of the 1st Republic (1918-1938), 2nd Republic (1938-1939), 3rd Republic (1945- 1948) and ends her survey in the late Communist era. The third and fourth chapters are written by Zbyněk Tarant. The third chapter is a report on the state of the contemporary Czech antisemitism on the web, while the fourth is a case study of antisemitic expressions that accompanied the historically Brst direct presidential elections in the Czech Republic in 2013. The last chapter, written by Věra Tydlitátová, is a case study on the cynical abuses of conspiracy theories in an information warfare that surrounds the 2014 crisis in Eastern Ukraine.
