Abstract in different language: | This Bachelor's Thesis deals with the impact of 18F FLT- PET/CT in the radiotherapy planning of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The introduction of the Theoretical Part focuses on a brief description of anatomical areas and the basic characteristics of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The core of the Theoretical Part is to introduce the most frequent therapeutical alternatives and to understand the procedure of radiotherapy planning with the use of modern PET/CT scanner. This device combines both positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT). A qualitative research with an in-depth case study was applied to reach an outcome of the Practical Part. The PET/CT device owing to the use of suitable radiopharmaceuticals often provides crucial information about the extent of the desease. The Conclusion summarizes the comparison of particular imaging examinations and evaluates the benefits of PET/CT scanning with fluorothymidine which fundamentally affects the radiotherapy planning. |
