Abstract in different language: | The thesis deals with three narratives The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham, 28 Days Later written by Alex Garland, and The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman. It focuses on the history of zombies and triffids and their connection to colonialism and post-colonialism. It explores the Haiti origin of the word zombie and how it is associated with the covid-19 pandemic. The phenomenon of othering is used to analyze the relationships between survivors and also the carnivorous monsters. It subsequently comments on the similarities between consumerism, capitalism, and zombies. Furthermore, it explores the differences between the three narratives and how they depict specific survivors and groups as villainous dictators. |
