V poslední části práce analyzuje reakci mezinárodního společenství a hodnotí budoucí vyhlídky Bougainville v kontextu stability a hospodářského rozvoje. |
Abstract in different language: | Although secessionist tendencies have been present in Bougainville since the last century, the question of independence is still very much alive. The aim of this thesis is to identify the main causes of secessionism in Bougainville, an island region of Papua New Guinea, based on historical events and the many factors that have strengthened the aspirations of the people for autonomy and ultimate independence. Particular attention is paid to the gradual escalation of the war conflict and the subsequent peace process, where secessionist demands can be observed. The final peace treaty was not concluded until 2001 only on the condition of a referendum. However, it will be up to the Papuan parliament to decide whether the near-unanimous referendum result will be implemented. The last part of the thesis analyses the reaction of the international community and considers Bougainville's future prospects in the context of stability and economic development. |
