| Abstract: | Životní příběhy a zkušenosti pamětníků dvou režimů, které naše generace, už asi jako poslední, může získat z první ruky. Sady porcelánových talířů vypráví životní příběhy seniorů a to jejich vlastními ilustracemi. Odpadový porcelán z fabrikové produkce jinak končící v kontejneru, je zde jako médium schopné komunikovat sdělení a životní příběhy. Práce se sociální skupinou seniorů a s odloženým porcelánem 4. jakosti, zde záměrně odkazuje na mnohdy stereotypní chování společnosti k ekonomicky neaktivnímu sektoru a k jeho automaticky připsanému statusu. Zároveň výběr zvoleného nosného média reaguje na to, že nově vznikající produkty by se měly navrhovat zodpovědně, smysluplně a s ohledem na jejich dopad na okolní prostředí. Smysl zde nacházím právě ve využití odpadu jako prostředku k mezigeneračnímu propojení. V komunikaci se seniory, předávání brzy zapomenutých příběhů a historických událostí dalším generacím, a poskytnutí možnosti seniorům se vyjádřit. Vzniklo více než 8 ilustrovaných sad nádobí o minimálně 6 ks talířů. Každou sadu pak doplňuje také audio podoba příběhu. |
| Abstract in different language: | My diploma thesis is based on storytelling and experiences of people who have witnessed the change of two political regimes in our country. One of the reasons why I chose to work with this theme was a simple fact that my generation may be the last one to hear those stories firsthand. The artwork itself consists of sets of porcelain plates depicting life stories of a group of seniors through their own illustrations. As a medium used to communicate these stories I have chosen leftover porcelain from large ceramic factories. This material would otherwise end up in a garbage container. The parallel of working with a group of seniors and discarded and low quality porcelain refers to our society's stereotypical behavior towards its economically inactive sectors and the unflattering label they often automatically receive. My decision to choose discarded porcelain as a medium reflects on my opinion that every new object should be designed responsibly, meaningfully and respectfully towards its environment. I find a deep meaning in using waste materials as means of connection between generations. Enabling seniors to pass long forgotten stories and historic events to other generations and to express themselves led so far to creation of more than eight illustrated sets of dinnerware including six plates. Each set is also accompanied with an audio recording of the stories it is depicting. |
