Abstract: | Snaha o překonání antropocentrismu v díle Petera Singera a Toma Regana a jejich snaha o ospravedlnění morálních práv zvířat. |
Abstract in different language: | This thesis is about Peter Singer and Tom Regan and their attempt to overcome predominant anthropocentric view on the animals and their moral rights. Singer's argument is based on his demand of equal consideration of interests of sentience beings, who can experience pain or pleasure. Tom Regan perceives animal as Subject-of-a-Life who have inherent value and therefore have a right to be treated with respect. Both authors try to avoid speciesism and to justify moral consideration for the animals, but they both divide animals to those, who deserve moral rights and the ones who don't. Such division is made by these philosophers from human point of view and therefore is anthropocentric. We can find examples where they favour man over animal, when there's no racional reason to do so. Therefore they both failed overcoming anthropocentrism. |
