| Abstract: | Ve své bakalářské práci bych se chtěla zaměřit na osobnost skotského teologa a semitologa Williama Robertsona Smithe (1846-1849), který svým inovativním přístupem k mnohým vědním disciplínám ovlivnil počátky formování moderní antropologie, starozákonní studie, vědu o islámu, ale i sociologizaci náboženství. Navazovali na něj takoví myslitelé jako například James George Frazer nebo slavný Émile Durkheim. |
| Abstract in different language: | In the history of nineteenth century religious thought, William Robertson Smith occupies an important position. He was a writer, who more than any other, stimulated the theories of religion and anthropology advanced by Frazer, Durkheim and Freud. My aim was to describe Smith's life and characterize his published works include The Old Testament in the Jewish Church (1881); The Prophets of Israel (1882) and The Religion of the Semites. |
