| Abstract: | Bakalářská práce "Válka v Pacifiku - Operace Forager" bude pojednávat o vylodění amerických vojsk na Mariánských ostrovech, probíhající v létě roku 1944, která byla důležitým krokem k dobývání Filipín. Autor se v práci bude zabývat invazí na ostrovy Saipan, Tinian a Guam. Součástí operace byla také bitva letadlových lodí ve Filipínském moři, která proběhla na počátku invaze na Mariany a autor ji bude taktéž analyzovat. Autor zprvu uvede nejdůležitější momenty z historie mariánského souostroví a probádá význam ostrovů jak pro Spojené státy americké, tak pro japonské císařství. Následně bude práce zaznamenávat události předcházející vylodění na souostroví Mariany a detailně zanalyzuje průběh vylodění na jednotlivých ostrovech a jejich následné obsazení americkými jednotkami. Závěr zhodnotí cíle stanovené výše a shrne výsledek celé invaze. |
| Abstract in different language: | The bachelor's thesis "The War in the Pacific - Operation Forager" will discuss the landing of American troops in the Marianas Islands, taking place in the summer of 1944, which was an important step towards the conquest of the Philippines. The author will discuss the invasion of the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Guam. The operation also included an aircraft carrier battle in the Philippine Sea, which took place at the beginning of the invasion of the Marianas, and the author will also analyze it. The author will first present the highlights of the history of the Marianas archipelago and discuss the importance of the islands to both the United States and the Japanese Empire. Subsequently, the thesis will record the events preceding the landing on the Mariana Archipelago and will analyze in detail the course of the landing on each island and its subsequent occupation by American troops. The conclusion will evaluate the objectives set forth above and summarize the outcome of the entire invasion. |
