| Abstract: | Lidno je akcidenční písmo, jehož tvary jsou excentričtější, než tvary běžného, umírněného a dobře čitelného chlebového písma. Je inspirováno nápisem ze záhlaví Lidových novin za dob jejich největší slávy, jehož autorem je pravděpodobně Jaroslav Benda. Nešlo tu toliko o čitelnost, špíše šlo o získání představy, jak by abeceda vypadala celá. Chtěla bych tím oslavit tvorbu renomovaných redaktorů slavných novin, vzdát čest jejich památce a vyzdvihnout důležitost nezávislého tisku. Lidno je dalším ze skupiny drzých, citlivých a kýčovitých písem, které je kresleno s láskou k extravagantním tvarům, a které se dá užít například k propagaci současných kulturních akcí nebo na obaly publikací s nimi souvisejících. Stejně jako původní nápis, není Lidno úplně produktem dobového slohu, ve které vzniká a ani nezrcadlí nějaký trend. Je šmrncovní vlastním, zvláštním způsobem a proto bude vždy poutat pozornost. |
| Abstract in different language: | Lidno is a display typeface the design of which is more eccentric than that of the relatively more restrained body text typefaces. It's just another cheeky typeface designed with love for extravagant shapes. It is inspired and created as a tribute to a particular headline typeface of Lidové noviny newspaper, appearing from 1924 to 1945. The headline was not really a product of the style of that age, nor it was trendy at that time. It was still drawn in classical serif manner, but it was chic and eye- catching in its own way, and it has a cultural and historical importance to the Czech Republic. Among editorsinchief of the newspaper, during those years, were foremost Czech intellectuals such as Eduard Bass or Ferdinand Peroutka; their paper gained a great influence. Presumable author of the headline is the renowned Czech typeface designer Jaroslav Benda. |
